Haul :)

Hey :)

So, I currently am studying for/doing my AS exams at the moment which means that (1) I have a lot of spare time on my hands with study leave and all that and (2) I need some sort of stress relief. My stress relief tends to come in the format of buying things and this week it just so happens to have come in the form of buying make-up and nail varnish, which is always a good excuse to go shopping.

So here it is, everything that I have bought/borrowed this week

Nail Varnishes

top (l-r): 17 Fast Finish Nail Polish-Purple Jewel, Rimmel Pro Super Wear Topcoat, Rimmel Lycra Pro-500 Peppermint
bottom (l-r): 17 Lasting Fix Nail Polish-Midnight Sapphire, Barry M Nail Paint-303 Bright Purple, Barry M Nail Paint-313 Dusky Mauve, Barry M Nail Paint-304 Mint Green, 17 Lasting Fix Nail Polish-Orange Soda

Now then, I have bought 8 varnishes, one from Superdrug and the rest from Boots however all of the Barry M and Rimmel Nail Varnishes you can buy from both (I think!). I bought all of the nail varnishes from Boots simply because they has a 3 for 2 event on cosmetics recently and I thought that I might as well take advantage of this pretty good offer!

17 Nail Polishes
top-bottom: midnight sapphire, purple jewel, orange soda.
all £2.99 from Boots

Now, I have used a few 17 nail varnishes in the past and although I am amazed at how cheaply priced they are (although I presume that this is because they are own brand) I have noticed that the colour and finish on them isn't the best that it could be. I tend to only like to apply one coat of nail varnish if I can help it just so that it does not damage my nails as much, yet I think that the colour application of these could be better. I am currently sporting the Midnight Sapphire upon my nails right now and I have to say that I am a lot more impressed with it than many of the other shades that I have previously worn from this collection. I love the Orange Soda for detailing work on my nails when doing some abstract nail design, and I like Purple Jewel for my toenails and/or a more formal occasion, simply because I prefer a little more riskier colours from my nails.

Barry M Nail Paints
top-bottom: Bright Purple, Mint Green, Dusky Mauve
all £2.99 from Boots

I am not going to lie when I say that I ABSOLUTELY love the colour range that you get from the Barry M brand. I own over 10 of the colours now and think that they are fabulous! The one thing that I have to say about them however is how long they take to dry. In comparison to other nail varnishes ranging from the price band that this one fits into and above, the varnishes take a long time to dry which is especially annoying if you have somewhere to be as soon as you have painted you nails. The thing was I still hadn't tried the near on cult colour of Mint Green and I still have not tried Mushroom which I am shocked at. The trueness to colour of these nail varnishes is shocking-I really like them. Now I am not a girl for a second who wears french tips or any other girly idea upon her nails hence my liking to Barry M so much-I can still get really good summer colours without them being all Bubblegum Pink.

Rimmel Nail Polish
500 Peppermint
£4.59 from Boots

By Far, my favourite High Street Nail Polish range is the Rimmel Lycra Pro Range. I was first introduced to this from a Rimmel bag that I purchased from the Clothes Show at the NEC about 2 years ago. I was given two colours in the set, one that has now been discontinued (431 Gold Infusion) and the other that is 393 Desire. I love this colour so much and wear it continually through November, its a very autumn colour! I was also given the colour 319 Ruby Me which to my knowledge-although I have not researched into it enough-has also been discontinued which I think is a shame. Now I had seen this peppermint colour the last few trips that I had made into town to Superdrug and had taken a real shine to it, and my mate who had no money on her at the time had take a shine to the colour also-boosting me into buying it. Now it is a bit light for me however it is great when used as nail art so would highly suggest it. And if the other 3 colours I own are anything to go by, the longevity of this product is great! :)

Lipsticks

l-r: 17 Lasting Fix Lipstick, 17 Sheer Moisture Lipstick, 17 Mirror Shine Lipstick, Accessorize Lipstick, Sleek True Colour Lipstick, GOSH Velvet Touch Lipstick

I am not going to lie but I have a bit of a Love/Hate relationship with lipsticks. I love when I manage to buy an awesome one or purchase one in a set at the clothes show, however, the majority of the time I get them and for some reason or another they are just not right for me.

17 Lipsticks
The first lipstick I bought was a rebuy of one that already owned-17 Lasting Fix Lipstick in Autumn Berries. This is a pink toned sort of coral(ish) lipstick is the best way that I can describe it. To me it is a proper summer colour no matter what the name of it suggests because I am not one for overly bright lipsticks and this is perfect a bright(ish) colour without feeling embarrassed by wearing it upon my lips.

New Autumn Berries on the left, old on right. The colour has gotten a tad bit lighter.

The second one is something that I feel that I could wear every day to college- 17 Sheer Moisture Lipstick in Antique Lace. Its sheer but gives me a little bit of lasting sheen. It's practically the same colour as my own lips which is great for college and the price of it isn't exactly bank breaking which is the sort of thing being a student who only has a Sunday job needs!

The final one I grabbed because of the 3 for 2 offer and I REGRET IT! It is 17 Mirror Shine in Nudist Peach. Now I love me a bit of an orange toned lipstick-heck that's the tone of my two favourite ones, so I grabbed this one, swatched it quickly then went to the till and paid. The second I tried it on I realised it was nothing more than a lip gloss in a stick, which I am not a fan of. It barely has any orange tone either which makes me sad. The thing is it also feels cheap and I now really regret buying it. :(

Accessorize Lipstick
As a brand, I have been wearing accessorize accessories since I was a very little girl. Now that they have a make up range in Superdrug, I have been wanting to try it. And this was my opportunity on my relative spree for lipsticks! I bought it in Shade 6 Berry Rose. Now the only 'bright' lipsticks that I will wear will be darker pinks that are nearly red. This is because I really have not got the right colouring for bright matte reds. I need something that is going to help my pink toned skin along rather than compete with it. This lipstick smells like berries which I think is awesome and the packaging is oh so cute, I'm in love!!

Sleek Lipstick
Now I had seen these in Superdrug a few weeks ago and really liked the colour pay off, yet wasn't keep on the colours that the actually came in. Now when I went shopping last Thursday and saw Sleek True Colour Lipstick in Rose Petal I was for want of a better word in awe! Compared to the relatively garish colours that are in the rest of this collection, this lipstick is sweet and girly, without being too bubblegum to be healthy. The orange undertone really does help with this I think.

Sleep True Colour Lipstick-Rose Petal, £3.99: unable to find online, is in Superdrug though

GOSH Lipstick
I have been looking for a replacement for my unnamed Rimmel Lipstick that I got from the Clothes Show about 2 years ago. It is a nude colour, and they did it until about 8 or 10 months ago and it is only now that I have realised that I actually need to replace the lipstick. This GOSH lipstick that I bought in the shade 122 Nougat is the nearest thing that I have found. It is a deep orange toned nude and is stunning. Along with my Estee Lauder Lipstick in Terra (discontinued) this lipstick is now my favourite and I love it, it is perfect for during the day when I can put it with a clear gloss, but I tone it with a slightly darker gloss of a night and by god do I love it!

GOSH Velvet Touch Lipstick-122 Nougat, £6.49: unable to find online, is in Superdrug though

Mascaras

top: Rimmel Glam'eyes Day2Night Mascara-Black
bottom: Collection 2000 Big Fake False Lash Effect Mascara-Brown/Black

The Rimmel One first methinks. Well, I own the original Glam'eyes mascara from Rimmel and I absolutely love it! It is the perfect daytime mascara and I have gotten through a lot of it with going to college etc. This is what tempted me to buy this new mascara. The advertising campaign for it is also pretty and I have been in love with the Rimmel brand for a while. I am however so disappointed with this product. It is so clumpy and although I like clumpy mascara its a bit too extreme. It also hurt my eyes but that could also be to do with the fact that it is hay fever season. I like the idea of this but I do no think it is as refined as some of the other products that have this 'technology.' I do however like the sparkly packaging!

I have been looking for a brown/black mascara for a while. When I am doing safer more daytime looks I prefer to wear a brown toned mascara so it is not too intense as more often than not I have winged eyeliner and a lot of kohl liner on my waterline. What I like it that it gives me really fill lashes but without the whole intensity of jet black. It it also such good value and comes off my eyes easily which helps as I suffer from eczema around my eyes as well as having a few allergies, so it it a joy to have a product that will stay throughout the day but will come off easily of a night. I really do like this mascara!

Last But Not Least
I have got John Green's 'Paper Towns' out of my local library. Now one thing you need to know is I am a bit of a Nerdfighter. I love Vlogbrothers as well as Charlieissocoollike and Nerimon on Youtube. I think they are amazing and I really like a good book so thought that I would get it out. I have already read 'Looking For Alaska' by John Green and have to say I was touched so much by the book-its just beautiful. From this new found love for this author, I have decided to read all of his books, like I do when I start to get obsessed with it. I am going to start reading it tonight and am excited to start reading it! I am then going to leave a note in it for any nerdfighters so that they know I have read it and after all nerdfighteria is cool. That's my nerdyness out of the way for today
